I am a licensed independent clinical social worker with experience working with children, adolescents, families and adults. I have worked in hospitals, residential facilities, homes, schools, and community based mental health. I have been practicing social work in the District of Columbia with a socially and culturally diverse population for the past four years. I completed my Masters in Social Work at Smith College School for Social Work where I focused on psychodynamic psychotherapy. My undergraduate work was at Grinnell College, with a major in Psychology, and a concentration in Gender and Women’s Studies.
I work with children, teens, and adults who may be struggling with relationships with family, peers, or significant others and identity development. I have spent years helping children, teens, and adults make sense of their experiences and move past little and big hurts to improve mood, relationships, and how they relate to the world. I am trained as a psychodynamic therapist and practice from a relational standpoint. I draw from several clinical approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, attachment theory, and trauma focused therapy and tailor my therapeutic approach to the needs of the client.
Some of the issues I most commonly work with include:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Physical, Sexual & Emotional Abuse
- Family Conflict
- Relationship Difficulties
